Is your deck looking tired, you could give it a face lift? Surface preparation is key for any deck finish that you want to last, even on new wood.
There are two option for removing the finish, which are chemical wash and sanding. To have lasting finish it is imperative that the wood be prepared to accept your finish.
You can use a pressure washer with a bio degradable chemical, but be careful not to get the rinse on you plants, or to wash in one spot to long.
The other option is an orbital sander with a 36 grit paper to get rid of the old finish fast, than a 60 or 80 grit to finish the wood. Sanding is the better option of the two.
Buy a very good quality of finish, in the long run it will save you time and money by lasting longer. Always test a spot and wait for it to dry before covering your whole deck.
Give the finish time to set up and dry as per the manufactures instructions. Then sit back and enjoy your deck for years to come.
